MAV JET

1ST FLIGHT

of a

New Jet

 

Trying to get the other pilots, Dave Morass and Lynn Fox to stop taxiing, get serious and just fly. 

 

Dropped off Miss Ashley in Seattle, called Bob Bornhofen, asked why the Mav Jet had not flown over all these months. He said, "Yes, no flights, but, we sure burned up enough brakes taxiing!"

 

I offered to come to Skappoose to fly, Bob said he would not pay. 

 

To Bob's recollection, the following happened:  

  • Skip asked about rental car, Bob said yes.
  • Skip got biggest and most expensive limo rental car imaginable, drove down there, parked on the taxiway, jumped out of car into plane, wearing shorts and t-shirt, zelch on the headset, started engines and taxied out, took off, buzzed the hangers, turned out of traffic, flew a long downwind, turned final to land in the pasture, almost did, then at the last moment floated onto the runway, landed, taxied in, shutdown, and said the airplane was all dicked up.
